Week 14 Science

Here are the unglazed tiles I used for the demonstration. These tiles will be used again when we get to rocks later on this semester. I searched online to see if they could be reused and they can. Washing them with a small amount of dishwashing liquid will remove any streaks.

Here is the modeling clay that I ordered. This brand doesn't dry out and can be reused for many other projects. I have ordered others in the past and even if they were not opened they dried out and hardened. I hated that because it was just wasted money and clay. This is a good brand that has been around for a long time!

Both of the experiments for this week are short and easy. You will likely have additional science time remaining.

Week 13 Science

The "Tilt" experiment was fun and easy and went according to plan. I think this experiment is a neat visual for the children. It helps them see that depending on where the Earth is in correlation to the sun it determines the season. This is where I ordered my modeling clay.

 I ordered this soil for my community. 

Someone recommended using only a tablespoon of soil instead of the cup of soil. I definitely think this would allow you to see the paper clips easier but it would not be following the directions that the book gives. You should use your own discretion on the amount you use. For video purposes, I always try to do the experiments the way the book says.
